The Israeli Supreme Court is considering a request by the Palestinian Authority this week to release hunger striking Palestinian prisoner, Muhammad Allan. 31-year-old Allan slipped into a coma on Friday after surviving on water alone since June 18. Once he wake,s the Israeli government will decide whether to invoke a law passed last month allowing the force-feeding of prisoners whose lives in danger.
An audio recording purporting to be Osama bin Laden’s son Hamza appeared on social media Saturday calling for lone wolf attacks on the West. The recording itself is believed to be from earlier this summer, but it’s the first time the young bin Laden has appeared in al-Qaeda material. He is believed to be in his early 20s.
A US-backed rebel faction says seven of its members have been released by the Nusra Front this week after being abducted from their base in northern Syria late last month. Clashes with the al-Qaeda branch almost led to a total collapse of the group and prompted bulked up airstrikes from the US coalition.
